BEACH VOLLEYBALL: Venice native Durish sees college, international success on sand

VENICE — Venice native Alexis Durish has used her gifts on the sand to help her accomplish some very impressive feats over the past couple of years.

Durish — who attended both Riverview and Venice during her high school career — played club beach volleyball and was offered scholarships from a number of different colleges for her services at the next level.

After graduating from Venice in 2022, Durish chose to sign with Florida State and began taking classes and training that fall.

“Florida State was for sure my number one choice,” Durish said. “But I did have other schools like LSU, South Carolina and Arizona on my radar.”

Since joining the Seminoles, Durish has truly hit the ground running over the past two seasons.

As a freshman, Durish earned a spot on the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association All-Freshmen Team after going 31-4 and earning wins with four different partners throughout the season. Her .886 winning percentage was the third-highest for a freshman in the program’s history. It was an already special season highlighted by a 17-match winning streak from March 8 to April 7.
