Governor signs bill to help regulate cost of prescription medicines and local pharmacies

Governor Dunleavy has signed a bill into law that aims to help Alaskans afford the medicine they need and assist independent pharmacies. According to the Alaska Beacon, House Bill 226 limits the powers of pharmacy benefit managers in Alaska. Those are the people who work with drug manufacturers and insurance companies to negotiate the prices of prescription drugs.
