One hired, three leave: Resignation votes shake up Augusta city government

Augusta has a new city administrator, but now has two more senior positions to fill.

The Augusta Commission voted Tuesday to hire Tameka Allen permanently as city administrator, more than two years after the 2022 resignation of Odie Donald II.

Also, after an executive session lasting more than four hours, commissioners returned to open session to accept the resignations of Interim Administrator Takiyah Douse, city Finance Director Donna Williams and city Procurement Diretor Geri Sams.

Douse had been considered as a candidate for the administrator position.

All three women will be placed on administrative leave until Sept. 30, the effective date of their resignations. Douse will receive 12 months’ salary; Williams sand Sams will receive six months’ salary.
