Michigan State women’s soccer ranked No. 1 in the country

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – The Michigan State women’s soccer team is off to its best start in program history and continues to reach new heights.

With an 8-0-2 record (3-0-0 B1G), the Spartans moved up from No. 5 to No. 1 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll.

It’s the first time the Spartans have reached the top ranking in the Coaches Poll.

MSU’s latest victory came on Sunday when it defeated No. 15 Penn State, who was ranked No. 9 at the time, 1-0.

It was the second top-15 opponent MSU has beaten on the road this season, as the Spartans took down then-No. 15 Notre Dame in its season opener on Aug. 15.
