Rockford man charged with delivering cannabis after being pulled over for a taillight violation

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Darren Bailey, 31, for allegedly delivering cocaine.

On September 24th, officers were on patrol around the area of East State Street and Arnold Avenue. Authorities said a white Mazda without functioning taillights was pulled over in the 3600 block of East State.

Officials said a large amount of smoke was coming from inside the vehicle and they could smell cannabis. Bailey told police he had been smoking cannabis since the early morning.

Another officer arrived on the scene and arrested Bailey for driving under the influence of drugs.

The Mazda was impounded and searched. Authorities found 93 grams of cannabis in several plastic containers throughout the vehicle, according to court records.

Bailey is charged with delivering over 30 grams of cannabis.
