Rockford-area handyman service donates portion of income to autism programs

LOVES PARK, Ill. (WTVO) – A local company with a unique business model is providing financial support to those with special needs.

M&M Handyman Services of Loves Park is donating part of what it brings in to help those with autism.

“I am just glad that we can form this and put this together to help people,” said Shawn Warren.

Warren and his wife Amanda started M&M Handyman services three months ago. The company is named after their two sons, Max and Michael, both of whom are on the autism spectrum. Ten percent of M&M’s income will go to organizations that help other children who also have the disorder.

“It seems like it’s expanding, and more and more children are in need of services,” Shawn said. “So, hopefully we can help provide that on any scale.”

The couple knows firsthand the importance of autism services in the home and in the classroom, which is why they say every dollar they donate will go toward valuable resources.

“Autistic children can be different in so many different ways,” Amanda said. “Some have a problem with loud noises, speech, transitioning, things like that.”
