Mom sentenced in baby boy’s beating death, harming toddler daughter

A Monroe County Court Judge on Tuesday sentenced a Rochester mother to 27 years in state prison for causing the death of her son, a baby, and harming her toddler daughter.

According to the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, Bryasia Love, 28, in May pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and second-degree assault, both felonies, in the death of her 1-year-old son A’Mias Love and attack on her 2-year-old daughter . She was sentenced Tuesday by Monroe County Court Judge Julie Hahn.

Rochester police on Jan. 19, 2023, were called to Wilson Commencement Park Apartments in Rochester for reports of an unresponsive child. Police alleged that Love delayed seeking medical treatment for her son for hours after physically abusing the baby. A’Mias was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries five days later.

The boy – whose injuries included skull fractures, hemorrhages on the brain and a lacerated liver – died of blunt force trauma, according to the DA’s Office.
