DES MOINES, Iowa – A central Iowa union says two correctional officers were attacked by an inmate at the Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison. The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Council 61 says the attacks happened Monday during a routine procedure. They say one officer is seriously injured.
