NYPD officer praised for rescue of man slashed on neck on Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The NYPD credited an officer with saving the life of a 61-year-old man who nearly died after he was attacked on Saturday in Stapleton. Officers responded around 4:30 p.m. to the vicinity of Canal and Front streets, where they found the man in critical condition after he was slashed on the side of his neck, according to police.
