The Least Used Amtrak Station In Delaware As Of 2023

NEWARK, DE – In fiscal year 2023, Delaware saw significant Amtrak activity with over 65 trains operating daily through the state.

According to Amtrak, these trains served two main stations: Wilmington and Newark, as part of several long-distance, state-supported, and Northeast Corridor routes.

Wilmington’s station was by far the busiest, with 625,373 passengers recorded. This makes it one of the most heavily used stations in the region, largely due to its position on key routes like the Acela and Northeast Regional, according to Amtrak.

By comparison, Newark, DE, saw significantly fewer passengers, with only 29,344 riders. Despite being the least-used Amtrak station in Delaware, Newark still plays a role in connecting passengers to cities along the Northeast Corridor, according to Amtrak.

Amtrak’s service in Delaware includes a variety of long-distance routes, such as the Crescent and Palmetto, as well as popular regional services like the Acela and Vermonter, ensuring strong transportation options for both local commuters and long-distance travelers.
