ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Video above:The 2024 results of the American Psychiatric Association’s annual mental health poll reveal the U.S. election and economy as a leading cause for anxiety. The economy takes the lead at 77% among Americans, followed by the U.S. election at 73%. The poll also includes current events at 70% followed by gun violence at 69%. KOAT spoke with University of New Mexico’s Health Clinical Mental Health counselor, Dr. David Lardier, on ways to cope as the presidential election nears. Election Day is on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024.
