Veteran in Virginia reunites with hat lost in Kansas City area

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Vietnam veteran is reunited with a possession that holds a lot of sentimental value.

You may remember last month, FOX4 reported about a hat that was found in an Independence parking lot by a young man getting off work.

FOX4’s story made its way to Alvin Brittingham in Virginia, the rightful owner of the hat and it all started in the metro when a young man decided to pick it up from the street.

In late August, Hayden Harvest spoke with FOX4, trying to get the word out he found a hat in an Independence parking lot. It was a Vietnam veteran’s hat with an Army aircrew wing attached.

On social media, FOX4’s story got the attention of the right person, a close friend of Brittingham.

“He sent me a message saying ‘Uncle Al, they got your hat,”‘ Brittingham said.

Fast forward to now, that hat, is back where it belongs, on “Uncle Al’s” head.

“I’m surprised to see it. I just thought it was gone forever,” Brittingham said.
