LETTER: Gun violence needs real solutions

There have been far too many devastating shootings since Sandy Hook. Our country’s children and adults deserve real action to stop the epidemic of gun violence. Every person in the USA should be able to live without fear of being murdered or wounded while going to school, church, theaters, grocery stores and concerts, etc. Between 2013 and 2022, the firearm death rate in New Mexico increased by 76%, and its firearm homicide rate more than doubled. New Mexico’s rank for firearm deaths per capita increased from 10th-highest to third-highest state in the U.S., according to the Everystat.
