DK Metcalf comments on Calvin Johnson comparisons

The Seattle Seahawks can only play who’s on their schedule. Sure, Seattle hasn’t faced a high-quality quarterback as of yet, which might be skewing their defensive numbers just a little bit. That argument against Seattle is about to come to an end, because they’re about to face their first real competition of the year in the form of the Detroit Lions, both at quarterback and in a general sense of facing a true playoff team.

Barry Sanders was of course the greatest player in Lions franchise history, but in the modern era that honor has to go to their Hall of Fame wide receiver, Calvin Johnson . While Johnson was on another level in the size department, Seahawks stud DK Metcalf is also far bigger, stronger and more athletic than the average NFL cornerback and he can do many of the same things well that Johnson did. Here’s what Metcalf said about being compared to Megatron yesterday.

We love DK, but he has a long, long way to go to catch up with Johnson, a six-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro who led the league in receiving yards twice. If we were to pick the top three receivers in the post Jerry Rice-Terrell Owens era, Johnson would make the cut, as would Julio Jones and Antonio Brown.
