The brothers were charged with larceny over $1,200 and conspiracy.
Two brothers were arraigned at Boston Municipal Court in West Roxbury Wednesday for allegedly stealing about $197,146 on Tuesday from the Energy Credit Union, officials say.
At 12:55 p.m., authorities responded to the Energy Credit Union at 156 Spring St. for a robbery in progress, according to a statement from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
The bank teller, who was one of the two brothers, told investigators that he was working at the teller station when an unknown man, later identified as his brother, “approached his window and wrote a note stating ‘hand it over,’” the statement said.
The bank teller, Jenel Flounoury, 32, of Brockton, entered a closed door containing the main vault and put the thousands of dollars in a blue ATM bag.
According to police, Jenel told them that the unknown man, later identified as Justin Flounoury, 32, of Brockton, took the bag and said “ thank you, sir” before fleeing.
The credit union’s Chief Financial Officer told investigators that by “not looking in his cash drawer, immediately going to the vault without being instructed to do so, and providing more than the amount demanded,” Jenel did not properly follow bank robbery procedures, the statement said.
