LSU’s Ahmad Breaux is ready to face South Alabama on Saturday

Ahmad Breaux spoke to the media this week about getting play time as a freshman and the challenge of facing South Alabama.

What does it mean to you to be able to play as a freshman?

Ahmad: It means a lot knowing that they have a lot of trust in me to be able to do that. Because in the SEC, especially in the interior on the D-line, nobody really has that kind of trust for a freshman…I just started playing this year so it’s really been a blessing and it means a lot.

What are you seeing from South Alabama and what is the challenge this week for the defense?

Ahmad: We just have to do what we’ve been doing but even better. Every week we’re striving for perfection because the opponent isn’t South Alabama, it’s us. So we have to beat ourselves every day.

You learned under another LSU great, Kyle Williams. How did he prepare you to take over and get done playing time as a freshman?

Ahmad: Coach Kyle told me before I even got here to do every drill full speed with your hair on fire. He taught me to have that mindset, never quit. He taught me how to work, how to play and how to be a man. It made me a better player than I would’ve been with anybody else.
