Memphis high schooler was victim of kidnap attempt: principal

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 12th grader at Manassas High School was the victim of an attempted kidnapping by her ex-boyfriend at the school Wednesday, the school’s principal said.

Manassas Principal Eric Cooper said in a news release the Manassas student had left school around 1 p.m. for work-based learning, and was in a car with other students on their way to jobs.

While they were driving on Chelsea Avenue, they saw the victim’s ex-boyfriend, an 18-year-old former Craigmont High student, who was in another car with a friend.

The second car began to follow the victim’s car. For their safety, the first car turned around and drove back to Manassas High with the other car following.

As the victim got out of the car and tried to walk back into the school, Cooper said two males got out of the second car.

The victim’s ex-boyfriend allegedly picked her up off the ground, walked her to the second car, put her in the back seat and closed the door.
