UMC in Lubbock diverting patients to other hospitals

LUBBOCK, Texas — University Medical Center in Lubbock is diverting patients to other hospitals due to technology issues at the facility, officials confirmed on Thursday.

“UMC is currently experiencing an IT outage that has necessitated the implementation of local and regional diversion of patients to ensure the safety and continuity of care,” officials said in a statement. “As our team works diligently to investigate and resolve the issue, we are prioritizing patient safety and minimizing the impact on critical services.”

The healthcare facilities remain open for existing inpatients, UMC said. The clinic also remained open. UMC said the diversion is for both emergency and non-emergency patients.

“We are working closely with local and regional partners to coordinate care and redirect patients as smoothly as possible,” UMC stated.
