The National Weather Service has provided an update on the weather forecast for the Bay Area, signaling a return to warmer conditions in the coming days. After a recent cool spell, with temperatures dropping 15-30 degrees compared to the day before, the region is expected to experience a gradual warming trend starting Thursday.
The cooling effect was due to a deep marine layer and strong onshore winds following an upper-level trough passing through the Pacific Northwest. However, this weather pattern will shift back to a ridge setup, compressing the marine layer and clearing cloud cover sooner on Thursday, pushing temperatures back to seasonal norms.
The warming will peak on Friday, with inland areas likely to experience temperatures 5-15 degrees above average. A brief period of offshore winds in the morning will contribute to the rise in temperatures before onshore breezes return in the afternoon, adding some uncertainty to Friday’s high temperature forecasts.
The weekend will see a slight dip in temperatures as another disturbance moves through the Pacific Northwest, bringing more moderate conditions. However, a warming trend is expected again by early next week, with above-average temperatures forecasted for much of the Bay Area through mid-week.
