Giants vs. Cowboys 3rd Quarter: Teams Trade Field Goals in Defensive Battle

Daniel Jones and Dak Prescott may both be surging in the pocket for their respective teams, but through three quarters, it has been the defense that has been the highlight Thursday night.

The New York Giants have the ball entering the final quarter of play after trading field goals with the Dallas Cowboys in the third quarter and still trail 17-12.

New York opened the second half scoring on an opening 11-play, 55-yard drive that took close to six minutes on the game clock with a field goal to cut the deficit to 14-12.

Dallas quickly responded on their own with a 60-yard field goal from Brandon Aubrey to give the Cowboys a lead back to five going into the final quarter.

The Giants did have a chance to score a touchdown on the opening drive driving all the way to the Cowboys’ eight-yard line but a short-yardage completion to Wan’Dale Robinson forced a tough decision from head coach Brian Daboll.

As he had in recent weeks, though, instead of going for it on fourth down, Daboll chose to kick the field goal to cut the deficit to just two.
