One dead in Troost Avenue pedestrian crash: reports

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Police Department is investigating after a pedestrian was killed in a traffic incident late Thursday morning.

According to a news release from KCPD, the driver of a red Ford Focus was speeding northbound on Troost Avenue while a pedestrian was operating a motorized scooter.

As the pedestrian was crossing Troost Avenue, near E. 51st Street, when they were struck by the Ford in the middle of the road in an unmarked crosswalk.

One woman dead after motorcycle crash in Johnson County

The driver of the Ford stopped immediately and remained at the scene.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead shortly after.

KCPD claims an investigation into the suspected impairment of the driver of the Ford is currently ongoing.
