World War II hero’s remains identified, returned to Racine after 80 years

RACINE COUNTY, Wis. – In a life cut too short, it’s what happened after Staff Sgt. Ralph Bode’s death has helped seal his legacy. It was at the height of World War II, that the Washington Park High School grad enlisted in the Army Air Corps. The 20-year-old found himself flying in a B-24H “Liberator” as a tail runner over Germany.
