Beware of ‘storm chasers’ trying to scam you after a disaster

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Severe weather means likely storm damage, and just as common as fallen trees or damaged homes are scammers who try to make a dollar during a time of disaster. The Better Business Bureau calls these people “storm chasers,” and they likely come in from out of state and swoop into neighborhoods hit by bad weather. Local contractors are often inundated with calls during these times and may not be able to respond quickly.
