Chick-Fil-A, Sbarro among 8 restaurants with 309 rodent droppings in a South Florida mall

Rodents roamed restaurants at a Wellington mall and marked their territory, a fact revealed by state inspections that closed eight places with rodent droppings.

Nine restaurants at The Mall at Wellington Green, 10300 Forest Hill Blvd., were shut down by inspection on Sept. 18 and 19, all but one including the High Priority violation of “rodent activity present as evidenced by rodent droppings found.” Seven of those restaurants have other violations, but rodent dung almost guarantees inspection failure from state inspectors working in Broward and Palm Beach County.

All but one of the rodent poop-riddled restaurants managed to pass the callback inspection the next day.

“Upon notification of these infractions, we worked with our tenants to immediately take steps to remedy the situation, and upon re-inspection, the food court re-opened within 24 hours,” said Asad Sadiq, the mall’s general manager. “We will continue to work with our tenants to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all The Mall at Wellington Green patrons.”
