Huge Four-Star Flip Boosts Oregon to Top Average Commit Rating in Class of 2025

Oregon football picked up a big commitment flip in the class of 2025 on Thursday, as four-star interior offensive lineman Douglas Utu flipped from Tennessee to the Ducks.

With Utu’s flip, Oregon’s average commit rating in the class of 2025 was boosted to 94.71, the top mark in the nation according to 247Sports.

With three five-star and 11 four-star commitments, the Ducks have less total commits than some other programs, but the average rating of those commits is the best in the country.

In other words, Oregon is holding the highest standard of recruitment in the nation for the class of 2025. Alabama (94.15), Ohio State (93.56), and Georgia (93.07) follow closely behind.

Utu, the latest piece of the Ducks’ stalwart class, was a huge get for Lanning. The 6-foot-4, 317-pounder out of Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas is currently ranked as the No. 2 interior offensive lineman and the No. 69 overall player in his class according to 247Sports’ composite rating.

Still, Utu is just the fifth-highest-ranked player in Oregon’s current class of 2025, trailing Dakorien Moore, Trey McNutt, Dallas Wilson and Dorian Brew.
