MILFORD — September is Hunger Action Month.
And, as part of it, Perdue Farms is delivering 400,000 pounds of its poultry to food banks across the East Coast, including the Food Bank of Delaware.
On Wednesday, FBD’s Milford location received its portion, 40,000 pounds.
The agency’s president and CEO said it’s thankful for the collaboration.
“At the Food Bank of Delaware, we believe that access to healthy food is a right, not a privilege, but we can’t do it alone,” Cathy Kanefsky said. “It takes strong partnerships with organizations like Perdue, who have demonstrated time and time again that they are committed to fighting hunger in our communities.”
Similarly, Perdue Farms does not want food banks to have to win the fight alone.
“In the fight against hunger, we know one thing is true: We are stronger together,” said Edgardo Torres, the operations director for the Milford Perdue plant.
Ms. Kanefsky added that the food bank works to resolve such issues each day, not only during Hunger Action Month.
