Hurricane Helene Approaches Florida, Theme Parks Adjust

In preparation for Hurricane Helene, Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando have made changes to their operations.

Universal Orlando plans to keep its theme parks open until their normal closing times on Thursday, but Universal CityWalk will close at 8 p.m. Its hotels are operating normally and "Halloween Horror Nights" for Thursday has been canceled. Universal Volcano Bay is also closed on Thursday, with hopes of reopening on Friday.

Disney World is also closely monitoring the storm. The resort is operating normally, but some experiences have been canceled or are unavailable.

Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s miniature golf courses are closed. Cabana and umbrella rentals and "Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party" have been scrapped.

However, Magic Kingdom’s operating hours have been extended to 8 p.m. on Thursday.

The National Weather Service urges residents in the projected path of the storm to complete preparations to protect life and property. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency for 61 counties to ensure resources are available for communities.
