The groundbreaking ceremony for Fire Station No. 38 will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, on a lot in the 14300 block of Pebble Hills Boulevard next to Tim Foster Street. The event is open to the public.
Like the new Upper East Side Regional Command Center, the $5.4 million fire station construction project is funded by the $413 million Public Safety Bond approved by voters in 2019.
The 9,000-square-foot facility was described by city staff as a state-of-the-art station featuring three emergency vehicle parking bays, a dormitory and kitchen, a decontamination shower room, an industrial laundry area, a dispatch office, a fitness area and lobby.
