5-year-old Skokie girl honored for calling 911 after her mom fainted

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Skokie 5-year-old is being recognized for her bravery after calling 911 after finding her mother passed out.

Zoey Reddick, 5, made the call after finding that her mother had fainted in their Skokie apartment on May 28.

“Mommy called me and I kept saying three times and she didn’t wake up, and I called 911,” Zoey told CBS News Chicago .

Zoey’s mom Jessica Reddick, who has Graves’ disease, told CBS News Chicago she couldn’t believe it.

“Why are you guys here, who called you? And they were like, ‘your daughter.’”

Reddick said Zoey is her “hero” and that she is grateful and proud of her daughter’s quick thinking and bravery.

“She says, ‘I just didn’t want my mom to die.’ That’s why she called 911.

“And I love mommy a thousand of ten,” Zoey said.

Zoey was honored with a special award from the Skokie Police Department to recognize her heroic efforts.
