New Rochester coffee shop aims to be more than one thing and keep things simple

When describing his new business, Eric Nagle uses the word “duality” a lot.

It is at the heart of his AM:fm coffee cocktails vinyl, which opened quietly a few weeks ago at 45 Euclid St. near Parcel 5 in downtown Rochester.

Right now, it’s serving coffee from Aporia Coffee Co. (a Dewey Avenue-based enterprise Nagle owns), breakfast sandwiches and other light fare from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

“So, we have high-end coffee, and we have very simple breakfast sandwiches,” Nagle said. “You can get the best coffee you can find anywhere in Rochester, but if you’re looking for a breakfast sandwich, and you’re a construction guy that’s running through, it’s not like you have to be scared that the space is this high-end space. You can still get a $6 breakfast sandwich.”

Duality.

Ultimately, the plan is for AM:fm to serve coffee, breakfast and lunch seven days a week starting at 7 a.m. and offer a curated evening cocktail program with bartenders playing their favorite vinyl LPs. The hope is that in time customers will bring in their own favorites to create a community experience, Nagle said.
