Colo-Nesco’s Preston Voelker is the Ames Tribune’s first Student of the Week for the 2024-25 school year.
The Story County high school student received 86% of the 421 votes, beating fellow nominees Ava Pasquariello of Collins-Maxwell and Nicole Reyes of Nevada.
Voelker has demonstrated the ability to be a great leader and excels in the classroom. He displays excellent academic work, quiet leadership, and respect for his teachers and peers. He is also helpful to other students when they have missed class or when they are doing complicated work.

Ava Pasquariello, Collins-Maxwell High School
Ava Pasquariello always participates in class. She is always willing to help her peers out and volunteers to lead the Pledge of Allegiance daily. She comes to first period with a smile on her face despite the “early hour.”
Nicole Reyes, Nevada High School
Nicole Reyes has been a big help in class during the first two weeks of school. She is always willing to help teachers and other students and has provided support to bridge communication gaps in the classroom.
