Motorcycle crash near Acadiana High School puts rider in hospital

LAFAYETTE, La. ( KLFY ) — A motorcycle rider is in the hospital after a crash near Acadiana High School last night, authorities said.

Lafayette Police responded at 7:44 p.m. Thursday to a report of a traffic accident involving two motor vehicles at the intersection of Rue du Belier and W. Congress St. One subject involved in the crash was taken to a local hospital, where he is currently in critical but stable condition.

Investigators said an unidentified person on a motorcycle was traveling south on the 600 block of Rue du Belier at W. Congress St. in the left turn lane with a green signal (no arrow). A second vehicle was traveling north on Rue du Belier with a green signal at W. Congress St. The motorcycle attempted to turn left onto W. Congress St., crossing Vehicle 2’s travel lane, resulting in a collision.
