Calling all well-behaved dogs! Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs is set to host another round of their popular ‘Dog Days at the Zoo’ event in October.
During this event, visitors of the zoo are able to bring their pups along, allowing pets to experience the sights, sounds, and smells of the many exotic animals at the facility.
The ‘Dog Days’ event will be held on October 16 and October 29 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are required for humans visiting, as well as a special ‘dog’ ticket, which can be purchased on the website. Specific instructions for how to participate can be found here .
Only one dog per adult is allowed and dogs must be leashed at all times. Most areas of the zoo will be accessible.
Interestingly enough, the purpose of the ‘dog days’ event stretches past being a fun time for dog owners. Animals at the zoo also get enrichment from the canines strolling around, with the event providing the zoo animals with “novel opportunities to flex their natural instincts, through natural protection, predation, or pure curiosity behaviors.”
