San Angelo City Attorney to resign for new Fort Worth position

SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) — San Angelo City Attorney Theresa James has announced that she is resigning from her role and has accepted a new position at the City of Forth Worth. We spoke with her about her years of service and what happens next.

According to James, her resignation will go into effect on Oct. 11. Afterward, she will take up a new position with the City of Fort Worth as a deputy city attorney.

“I’ll be managing the governmental relations function, which involves legislative advocacy and administrative advocacy for the City at both the state level and the governmental level,” James said. “I will not be the lead of the City Attorney’s Office, but I’ll be one of at least three deputy city attorneys, and then the remainder of the City Attorney’s Office falls underneath those deputies.”

James stated that the decision to take up the new position was inspired by the opportunities that Fort Worth’s size can offer.

“Fort Worth is the 12th largest city in the country,” James said. “Being able to work and do the kind of work that I do at that level is definitely a step up for me.”
