For the 11th time in 12 years, the Los Angeles Dodgers are kings of the National League West division again after pulling off a 7-2 win over the San Diego Padres Thursday night. For Shohei Ohtani, it’s the first he’s tasted a division title since he started playing in the big leagues in 2018.
The Dodgers trailed San Diego by two runs entering the bottom of the seventh inning, but Will Smith tied the game with a two-run blast. Then, later in the inning, Ohtani broke the tie with an RBI single before Mookie Betts hit a two-run single to give the Dodgers a three-run lead.
Andy Pages added insurance for the Dodgers with a two-run home run in the eighth inning.
Ohtani celebrated the special day for the Dodgers and for his career with no other than his wife, Mamiko Tanaka, and their adorable dog, Decoy.
The sight of Ohtani, Mamiko and Decoy on the field after the Padres game had fans’ hearts melting.
Mamiko Ohtani‼️
“Oh my gosh mamiko so tall and pretty we need to her play basketball and absolutely defeat Ohtani at it.”
