Family seeking answers after being hit by police truck with no driver

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — A Decatur family is looking for answers after a Falkville police truck, with no driver, hit and injured several of them while they were eating dinner on the patio of a Chipotle.

The family’s attorney, Hunter Garnett, said he is working to collect information from Monday’s incident.

“There’s some conflicting evidence that doesn’t exactly match up with what’s being released by Decatur and Falkville Police Departments, and we’re still trying to determine what the truth is in this case,” Garnett said.

Two adults and two children were injured and transported to the hospital on Monday evening, according to the Decatur Police Department. When officers arrived at Chipotle on Beltline Road, they found a Ford F-150 that belonged to the Falkville Police Department had rolled up onto the patio, hitting several people.

Decatur Police said the truck was displaying a shift error message. The department found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing.
