Henry County Sheriff’s Office searching for missing Fort Campbell soldier

Fort Campbell has confirmed that the man reported missing in Henry County on Wednesday is a soldier of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).

On Wednesday, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) was notified of John Michael Jackson’s vehicle parked on the side of the bridge at Paris Landing, but he was nowhere to be found.

On Friday, Lt. Col. Marty Meiners told The Leaf-Chronicle that Jackson joined the U.S. Army as a Network Communication Systems Specialist (25H) in August 2023 and has served at Fort Campbell since May 2024.

“We are working closely with civil authorities in their efforts to ensure he is found as soon as possible,” Meiners said.

HCSO, the Henry County Rescue Squad and the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency searched about eight miles north of the bridge before heavy rain and nightfall caused them to pause the search Wednesday night.

Lead detective Lt. David Andrews said that the agencies will meet tomorrow to make a plan to resume the search on Sunday, weather permitting.
