Clovis East Homecoming needs convertible drivers

CLOVIS, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) — Clovis East High School students say they need convertibles and their drivers for their homecoming ceremony – in order to continue their traditions, they decided to call on the community for support.

On Tuesday, Clovis East announced on social media that the convertibles that were originally meant to be used in the pre-game parade were no longer available.

Clovis East Associates Student Body Representatives Makai Labadie and Briley Laret say without the convertibles Homecoming would still happen, but it would lose a once-in-a-lifetime mystique for the students meant to be in the parade.

“[Riding in the convertibles] just adds on to the experience of being nominated by your peers for such a quite surreal thing,” Labadie said.

According to Briley, five convertibles are needed to carry the school’s “royalty,” including:

  • The Grand Marshall
  • Freshman Homecoming Prince and Princess
  • Sophomore Homecoming Prince and Princess
  • Junior Homecoming Prince and Princess
  • Senior Homecoming King and Queen Nominees
