AES: 97,000 customers impacted by overnight storms, crews working to restore power

INDIANAPOLIS — AES Indiana said about 97,000 customers were impacted by storms brought across Indiana Friday night. On Saturday, they continue to work to restore the power.

According to AES, Hurricane Helene brought 55 mph wind to the Hoosier state, which caused significant damage to their service area.

Since then, more than half of the 97,00 customers impacted have had their power restored, AES said. Yet crews are still working on restoring the power of the remaining 43,000 customers, planning to do so throughout the day for the damage caused to both poles and infrastructure. AES said it plans to do this “…as quickly and safely as possible.”

AES Indiana also added the importance of safety. They encouraged everyone to avoid downed power lines and poles and to immediately report them to (317) 261-8111.
