PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A family is looking for answers after Marvin Lamar Hatcher, or “Ace” as his family called him, died at Gilmerton Avenue in Portsmouth Tuesday.

Friends and family gathered to remember Ace through lit candles and black, gray and silver balloons. The family held the vigil at the same location where Hatcher was murdered.

They said they are still looking for answers.

“I’m definitely angry — heartbroken, beyond heartbroken,” said Katie Hatcher, Marvin’s younger sister. “It’s just like a nightmare that you can’t wake up from. It’s like I’m here, but I’m not here. So it’s just a hard pill to swallow.”

The Hatchers have created a GoFundMe to help cover the expenses and to help out Ace’s only daughter. If you are interested in donating, click here .
