A former FAA contractor, Abouzar Rahmati, has been arrested and charged with acting as a secret agent for Iran. Rahmati is accused of lying to gain employment and access to sensitive information, which he then shared with the Iranian government.

Rahmati, a naturalized US citizen and former Iranian military officer, met with Iranian intelligence officers and received instructions to gather information on the US solar industry. He then obtained a position with an FAA contractor that had access to confidential data on the industry.

Rahmati allegedly used his position to collect and transmit sensitive information to Iran. The US Department of Justice accuses him of infiltrating a US agency to provide Iran with intelligence vital to national security.
