California’s Yosemite National Park Celebrates National Public Lands Day with Free Entry

Yosemite National Park is marking National Public Lands Day on September 28 with free entrance, offering visitors a chance to explore the park without the usual $35 fee per vehicle. In addition to enjoying the scenic beauty, visitors are encouraged to participate in service projects as part of the nationwide event, which promotes volunteerism and recreation on public lands.

While entrance fees are waived, a reservation is still required to drive into or through Yosemite between 5 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekends and holidays through October 27, including on National Public Lands Day. Visitors can secure reservations via Recreation.gov for $2, which covers entry for three consecutive days. Reservations must be made seven days before the intended arrival, with some afternoon-only arrivals also available.

For those without a reservation, entry is permitted before 5 a.m. or after 3 p.m. Alternatively, visitors can take the Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System (YARTS) to avoid the need for a reservation.
