Tropical Remnants Bring Torrential Rain and Gusty Winds to the Ohio Valley

The remnants of Tropical Storm Helene are set to cause significant weather disruptions across the Ohio Valley today, with heavy rain and strong winds expected to impact Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), up to 3 inches of rain could fall in some areas, posing a risk of minor flooding and rising waters in smaller creeks and streams.

Heavy Rainfall Could Cause Localized Flooding

As Helene transitions into an extratropical low and moves across Kentucky, a large band of tropical rain will move through the region this afternoon. The most substantial rainfall is forecasted for the lower Scioto Valley and the Whitewater Valley, particularly in Kentucky counties and the Tri-State area. Despite previously dry conditions, the NWS warns that this sudden influx of water could lead to minor flooding, especially in lower-lying areas.
