Green Hill star Avary Stockwell commits to Tennessee softball for Class of 2026

Avary Stockwell burst on the high school softball world as a freshman when she helped Green Hill win the TSSAA Class 4A state championship with her walk-off home run in the title game.

Two years later, she’s ready to announce her college future: She will be a Lady Vol.

Stockwell, a junior, announced her commitment to Tennessee on Saturday on her X account. She will be part of the program’s 2026 signing class. Stockwell is the No. 21 player in the country according to Perfect Game Softball. She’s the No. 1 recruit in the state per On3 for the 2026 class.

“Since I was 7 years old I’ve had a dream of playing collegiate softball,” Stockwell wrote on her X account. I’m so very grateful, blessed and honored to be able to represent and wear the big (orange)! Go Vols!”

Stockwell has primarily been an infielder at Green Hill. However, she’s also played catcher in travel ball. She hit .447 with 20 doubles, 19 home runs and 72 RBIs in 2023 as a sophomore. She has 37 home runs and 130 RBIs in two seasons at Green Hill.
