100 local kids recieve free bikes during Ride and Roll KC

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — This weekend, local organization, Ride and Roll KC , is empowering kids of all ages and demographics to live a healthy and active lifestyle through its annual bike giveaway.

“So many times kids are just stuck in a screen, looking at a face stuck in a building. A bike is actually more than just play,” Co-founder of Ride and Roll KC, Jamaal Bolder said.

“It’s a way for them to explore, it’s a way for them to create jobs…it gives them freedom.”

“I’m just happy to be here,” bike recipient J-Marion Edward’s said.

“It’s cool they’re collecting bikes for kids so they can get exercise with it and get transportation with it.”

Co-founder Wavy Blendz used to be homeless and says the bikes symbolize more than just a way to get around.

“It literally is not just a bike, it’s bigger than a bike. We’re riding for solutions,” Blendz said.
