Hurricane Helena’s Aftermath: Two Tornadoes Confirmed in Virginia Counties

Blacksburg, VA – Two tornadoes struck Pittsylvania and Bedford counties on Wednesday, as remnants of Hurricane Helena moved through Virginia. According to the National Weather Service, an EF-2 tornado hit Pittsylvania County at 2:38 p.m., with estimated winds of 118 mph. The tornado traveled 6.85 miles with a maximum width of 225 yards, injuring one person.
