The Bronze Age Batgirl and fans supported Batman Day at Big Lick Comics despite a power outage

Batgirl was not detered by the storm

From 1978 to 1984, Karen Whitfield toured with Adam West and Burt Ward, the original Batman and Robin, as DC’s Bronze Age Batgirl. The female caped crusader was on hand Saturday at Big Lick Comics Batman Day at 3424 B Orange Ave NE, Roanoke, Virginia.

The event was scheduled for 10:00 a.m., but there was no electricity because recent storms knocked out the power. This did not deter the owners of Big Lick Comics from opening later Nor did the lack of electricity keep loyal customers and fans of Whitfield away.

Battery-powered lights were placed on the walls, and customers used cell phones to check out the merchandise that included many bargain items. The atmosphere was friendly, and the employees of Big Lick Comics thanked everyone who came and welcomed them to return.
