Florida Tops List Of States With The Worst Beach Cities For Retirees, Per Recent Study

For many seniors, the idea of retiring to a beach town is a desirable one. Walking barefoot on the soft sand while listening to gentle waves could theoretically feel like being on vacation every day. And Florida has plenty of beach-front towns. Unfortunately, a financial website, GoBanking Rates, has listed three different Florida cities as among the worst six beach towns for seniors to retire in the United States – or a whopping 50%.

The Study And What It Measured: In late September of 2024, GoBanking Rates published what it felt were the six worst American beach towns for seniors’ retirement.

To do this, the site considered metrics like costs of living and factors such as the predictability of weather, and the availability of activities that seniors would enjoy.

50% Of The Cities On The List Were In Florida: There were six American cities that made the list. Three were in Florida. The others were Venice Beach, California, Waikiki Beach, Hawaii, and Atlantic City Beach, New Jersey.
