Heavy Showers & Thunderstorms Possible Across Parts of Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina

Late-Season Heatwave Possible in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas

Good morning everyone. Gloomy conditions in the Northeast continue as atmospheric gridlock persist due to a virtual “omega block” between high pressure and our low pressure system.

This means we have another day of coastal drizzle and very cool temps. Some sunshine and 70’s try to return tomorrow, then more showers are expected on Tuesday. Things will finally clear out on Wednesday, and we should have a fairly nice rest of the workweek.

The Mid-Atlantic and parts of the Southeast remain problematic, with afternoon sun working the atmosphere, and creating just enough instability for some scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms across parts of Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina. While we don’t expect anything severe, we could see some heavy rain, small hail, and gusty winds in areas that simply don’t need it right now.

Aside from the tropics and prospects in the Gulf of Mexico late this week, we’re also keeping an eye on a possible late-season heatwave in parts of Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. Starting late in the week into early to mid next week, we could see temps soaring back into the 90’s for a decent stretch. In some cases, 100 degree temps could reemerge across parts of Texas as well.
