September 29, 2024 – Lakewood Sheriff’s Station officials report that Thursday morning several residents saw a male adult walking with a rifle in a commercial area located on Artesia Blvd. and Downey Avenue in Bellflower. A female resident driving by also flagged down a deputy in the area and told him about the man with the rifle. The deputy began to check the area and requested additional units which prompted a large law enforcement response including our air support. Moments later the deputies were directed towards a Smoke Shop in the Bellflower Town Center where they saw the suspect running into the business while holding the rifle. The suspect also attempted to hide from the deputies. The deputies were able to contact the suspect and detained him without incident.
